May 2007 -- AmericanThai.net 2nd Activity:
Fund Raising for "Race For Grace" May 26, 2007
Sam was Milan's former 1st Grade classmate. His sister, Grace (age 2), was diagnosed with Rett syndrome (RTT). RTT is a rare neurological disorder found almost exclusively in females. Children with RTT appear to develop normally until 6 to 18 months of age when they enter a period of regression, losing speech and motor skills. Most develop repetitive hand movements, irregular breathing patterns, seizures and extreme motor control problems. RTT leaves its victims profoundly disabled, requiring maximum assistance with every aspect of daily living.
One day, Milan came up with a wonderful idea to sell AmericanThai.net products with all proceeds to be donated to the RETT SYNDROME RESEARCH FOUNDATION (RSRF). AmericanThai.net specially contacted Grace's mother for permission to this special fund-raising for our participation in The Race For Grace Strollathon, held in Narragansett, Rhode Island on Saturday May 26, 2007.
It was a beautiful warm Saturday when Milan participated in a walk with the crowd. Her participation on behalf of AmericanThai.net community is well recognized and appreciated. The participation was memorable and AmericanThai.net raised $44 which was donated directly to RSRF. Here are some photos of the event to share.
