 One of the 2006 Christmas gifts that Vinnie gave to Milan & I was a book called, "part asian -100% hapa". The book beautifully presents a collection of "hapa" (ha-pa adj. 1. Slang. of mixed racial heritage with partial roots in Asian and/or Pacific Islander ancertry. n. 2. Slang. a person of such ancestry. [der./ Hapa Halaole (half white)], both children and adults. ของขวัญคริสต์มาสปี 2006 ชิ้นหนึ่งที่ "พ่อวินนี่" ได้มอบให้ "แม่จอย & น้องมุก" คือหนังสือ "part asian -100% hapa" ซึ่งเป็นการรวมรูปภาพทั้งเด็กและผู้ใหญ่ที่เป็น "hapa" (มนุษย์ผู้มีเลือดผสมของชาวเอเชียและฝรั่งผิวขาวอยู่ในตน ...คำว่า hapa นั้นเป็นภาษาฮาวาย แปลโดยตรงว่า "half" หรือ "ครึ่ง")
However, the book mainly represents the viewpoints of artists, in this case, a professor of art as well as a musician, and a professor of ethnic studies and history at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The book reflects the hidden feeling of loneliness of a hapa growing up in the American society, especially during 1960's - 1980's. อย่างไรก็ดี หนังสือเล่มนี้ได้นำเสนอเรื่องราวในเชิงแนวคิดของศิลปินผู้เป็นศาสตราจารย์สอนวิชาศิลปะ และนักดนตรี ร่วมกับศาสตราจารย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญเรื่องเชื้อชาติและการแต่งงานข้ามเผ่าพันธุ์ จาก University of California,Santa Barbara การนำเสนอเรื่องราวในส่วนของรูปภาพจึงไม่เน้นที่ความสวยงาม แต่เป็นการสะท้อนความรู้สึกที่ค่อนข้างโดดเดี่ยวของมนุษย์ลูกผสมข้ามเผ่าพันธุ์ ที่เติบโตขึ้นท่ามกลางการไม่เป็นที่ยอมรับจากสังคมอเมริกันมากนัก ในช่วง 1960's - 1980's
To me, I personally believe in the beauty of human-beings, especially those half- and/or mixed racial people. I potentially see the beauty in cross-breedings of plants, animals, as well as human. Pure breeds, although rare, usually do not last or are susceptible to mutation. I personally admire my 100% Thai blood which is rather uncommon even in Thai society. สำหรับฉันนั้น เชื่อมั่นในความงดงามของการเป็นมนุษย์ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง "ลูกครึ่ง" หรือ "ลูกผสม" และความพิเศษของการผสมข้ามเผ่าพันธุ์นั้น จะมองเห็นได้ชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น ไม่ว่าในพืช สัตว์ หรือมนุษย์ ก็อะไรๆ ที่เป็นพันธุ์แท้ นั้นมักจะไม่ทนทานและสามารถกลายพันธุ์ได้ในที่สุด ไม่ใช่หรือ... และฉันก็ชื่นชมความเป็นไทยแท้ของฉันนะ เพราะว่าเป็นของหายากจริงๆ แม้แต่ในสังคมประเทศไทย
Milan and I were very impressed with the "part asian - 100% hapa" book. It then became Vinnie and Milan's idea for me to publish similar book, but this time "American-Thai" instead. The book will show American-Thai children and their thoughts of being half Thai & half American. Part of the benefits will be donated to the Children's Foundation in Thailand and a charity in the United States. This donation will help the American-Thai children to take part in giving something back to their parents' heritage. แม่จอยและน้องมุกนั้นกรี๊ดกันมากๆ กับหนังสือ "part asian - 100% hapa" และน้องมุกก็ได้พูดขึ้นตามประสาเด็กว่า อยากมีหนังสือที่เป็นรูปของน้องมุกบ้าง จึงเกิดเป็นความคิดของพ่อวินนี่และน้องมุก ที่แนะนำให้แม่จอยรวบรวมรูปภาพของเด็กๆ ที่เป็นลูกของเพื่อนๆ พี่ๆ น้องๆ ผู้เป็นลูกครึ่ง "อเมริกัน-ไทย" พร้อมให้เด็กๆ ได้แสดงความรู้สึกในฐานะที่ตนเป็นลูกครึ่ง เพื่อรวมเล่มและจัดทำเป็นหนังสือขาย และนำรายได้ทั้งหมดบริจาคช่วยเหลือมูลนิธิเด็กในประเทศไทย และองค์กรกุศลในประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ซึ่งจะเป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้เด็กๆ ของโครงการ ได้ร่วมทดแทนบุญคุณแผ่นดินถิ่นกำเนิดของพ่อและแม่
 Therefore, I have begun working on the http://AmericanThai.net website as a special place and/or source of information for anyone who is interested in Thailand and its culture as well as for anyone to see American-Thai children and their unique looks. As a Thai mother who resides in the United States, I also have to learn the American culture. I won't be too comfortable seeing my child grow up as a 100% American kid, and I can't raise her to be a 100% Thai child either. Any journey, however, is never so smooth. With lots of support from our families and friends (both American and Thai), there came such critiques like "Dr. Joy only wanted to promote herself and her daughter." or "Why calling yourself Dr. Joy?". For those who were friends, Thai mothers married to Americans and have children, but live in other states, they got together and requested a removal of their children's photos from the website. Other moms consulted with husbands and were still somewhat afraid of the internet. อย่างไรก็ตาม ในทุกๆ เส้นทางนั้นย่อมไม่สามารถโรยไปด้วยดอกกุหลาบ และในแต่ละเส้นทางมักเต็มไปด้วยขวากหนามและหลุมบ่อ... ท่ามกลางการเห็นพ้องของคนใกล้ชิด และเพื่อนๆ (ทั้งอเมริกันและไทย) ก็มีเสียงสะท้อนจากเพื่อนร่วมโลกที่เป็นคนไทยและอาศัยอยู่ในอเมริกาว่า "ดร.จอย ต้องการทำเวปไซต์นี้ขึ้นมาเพื่อโปรโมทตัวเองกับลูกสาว"... บ้างก็ว่า "ทำไมต้องเรียกตัวเองว่า ดร.จอย"... ส่วนคนที่เคยรู้จักและร่วมกิจกรรมกันในฐานะแม่คนไทย แต่งงานกับสามีอเมริกัน และมีลูก เพียงแต่อยู่ต่างรัฐ ก็ได้ร่วมวิพากษ์วิจารณ์และขอให้เอารูปลูกของตัวเองออกจากเวปไซต์... แม่คนไทยบางคนได้ไปปรึกษาหารือกับครอบครัวสามีอเมริกัน และได้ความว่า "หวาดกลัวภยันตรายทางอินเตอร์เน็ต" จึงไม่ขอร่วมโครงการ...
Time passes by, and yet, AmericanThai.net has developed tremendously. Our first activity in April 2007 was to create magnets from the children's artwork, and sold them at some events. The children received money and lots of fun as benefits. In May 2007, Milan raised money from selling the AmericanThai.net magnets for a charity (Read). วันเวลาได้ผันผ่าน และเวปไซต์ AmericanThai.net ได้เติบโตและเติบใหญ่ขึ้นเป็นลำดับ กิจกรรมแรกในเดือนเมษายน 2550 เราได้จัดทำ แผ่นแม่เหล็ก (magnets) สำหรับติดตู้เย็น ที่เป็นภาพศิลปะงานวาดเขียนของเด็กๆ และให้เด็กๆ ช่วยกันขายในงานวัด เป็นที่สนุกสนาน และได้เงินกินขนมกันคนละเล็กคนละน้อย นอกจากนี้ ในเดือนพฤษภาคม น้องมุกก็เกิดไอเดียในการขายแผ่นแม่เหล็กติดตู้เย็น และนำเงินรายได้ทั้งหมด บริจาคให้กับครอบครัวของเด็กที่ป่วย (อ่านรายละเอียด)
In August 2007, AmericanThai.net visited the Foundation for Children in Nakhonpathom Province, Thailand. In honor of the 80th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, Rama IX of Thailand on December 5th, 2007, AmericanThai.net also helped promote the King (Read). และในวาระที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช รัชกาลที่ 9 ทรงมีพระชนมายุครบ 80 พรรษา ในวันที่ 5 ธันวาคม 2550 AmericanThai.net ได้จัดทำเวปไซต์เพื่อเผยแพร่พระเกียรติคุณของพระองค์ท่าน (อ่านรายละเอียด)
On December 31, 2007 AmericanThai.net became registered as AMERICANTHAI.NET LLC. AmericanThai.net ได้จดทะเบียนเป็น AMERICANTHAI.NET LLC เมื่อวันที่ 31 ธันวาคม 2550
 In winter 2007/08, AmericanThai.net helped promote the Giant Clam Conservation/Adoption Project of the Department of Fisheries. The project accepts donations to support the ocean nursery and reintroduction of the juvenile giant clams. We also promoted E-learning Thai as well as English-Self-Study on the website (Read).

On February 14, 2008 we launched AmericanThaiDotNet @ OK Nation at the OK Nation Blog especially for Thai people. และเมื่อวันที่ 14 กุมภาพันธ์ 2551 AmericanThaiDotNet @ OK Nation (อเมริกัน-ไทย ดอท เน็ท) ก็ได้เริ่มเปิดตัวขึ้นที่ OK Nation Blog เป็นครั้งแรก เพื่อพี่น้องคนไทยโดยเฉพาะ

In October 2008 AmericanThai.net opened an on-line store called AmericanThaiDotNet @ Zazzle for the design & creation of products related to Thailand and America. And in December 2008 AmericanThai.net published the first AmericanThai.net book.
